On busy studio days it’s not always easy to judge how everyone is feeling.
Not everyone vocalises if they are having a bad day and it can be overwhelming to ask for consideration from other people.
At the beginning of 2020 we started doing a thumbs up/down check in during the morning meeting.
Going around the room each person gives a signal as to how they are feeling that day.
It’s a quick process and it gives staff and volunteers an idea of who may need some extra care. It also allows members to be more considerate of each other when they know what kind of day the person next to them is having.
We end the session the same way and often those who started with a thumbs down end up feeling a lot better.
