Scion Collaboration
What did you enjoy most about working on the collaboration with Scion?
I was very lucky to be able to visit the factory where all the designs were being printed. It was amazing and so interesting to see every part of the process from start to finish. I loved every part of the day as it was so lovely and inspiring to be around so many beautiful designs wherever you looked!
One of the first workshops we usually do when starting a new project, is using different drawing techniques. Such as using your non dominant hand, continuous line drawings, using different mediums such as ink and collage for just a few examples. I find them very useful as it helps to get loads of ideas down on paper quickly, without overthinking what your putting down on the page to start with. And then taking the bits you liked from it and turning them into a piece of art you really love!
My cyclamen design was used for the collection called ‘Flower of Love’ How did it make you feel when you found out they would be included?
I was definitely surprised! It also feels very surreal to think someone could actually choose to have something that has my design on in there home. I’ve often seen Scion products when out shopping and always loved there designs, so to think I’ve now been able to be a part of creating something with them is amazing.
Has coming to Designs in Mind and working on this collaboration had a positive impact on your mental health?
It’s given me more confidence in the pieces I create. Knowing such a big brand like Scion actually wanted to use something I created and came up with helps me to realise I can make designs/art that people will actually enjoy and love.
