When did you start at Designs in Mind?

I think about 3 and a half years ago.

How has coming to Designs in Mind helped with your overall mental health?

It has helped massively.

When I started at the studio I was shy and didn’t talk to people. I felt alone, but coming to Designs in Mind changed that. I no longer feel alone, in fact I now have people in my corner who will back me up and support me through everything.

Has coming to Designs in Mind increased your confidence?

Yes definitely!

I can hold my head up when I’m involved with the studio and it’s starting to have an effect outside of Designs in Mind too.

Are you involved with any projects other than the morning workshops?

Would you like to be?

I volunteer to help with the New Referrals programme and the Good Egg project. I have recently got involved with the gardening project which I really enjoy.

I would like to do wood carving but it’s on at the same time as I’m volunteering.

What Is your favourite project or product?

My favourite product is our A3 Eclipse print.

I can’t tell you about my favourite project until the launch in September.

How has Designs in Mind helped you outside of the studio

It has improved my confidence so I now feel I can stand up for myself.

Tell me a bit about what you are involved with outside of Designs in Mind

I have become a Co-Director of a new company called The Shoopery.

I am helping a friend in her print studio and I am about to start my second year in college studying a healthcare course.

None of this would have happened if I didn’t go to Designs in Mind

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’m not sure, that’s a tough question.

I’m hoping I’m a mental health nurse or working to become one.

And I hope to have a beard.
