Rosie is the Product Lead at Designs in Mind and started at Designs in Mind in 2018.
She has a BA Honours in Costume for Theatre and Film and proceeded to freelance in costume, followed by working in Buying and Product Development in the Retail Industry.
She began her time at Designs in Mind as an Artist Volunteer on the New Referrals Programme and went on to work with us at Designs in Mind when an opportunity arose.
She works alongside Members in the development of studio-made products for our lovely shop, as well as facilitating or organising focus groups that build on a variety of different skills such as sewing, woodcarving, ceramics & screen printing. These focus groups offer our Members the chance to grow an area of personal interest or gain confidence in different art and craft disciplines.
Rosie’s favourite workshops tend to be the focus groups as they allow her to work closely with members on a specific project or skill. She also has very fond memories of the Gobowen Library project, as that was the commission that was being worked on at the time that she joined the team.
Rosie said “It was a really beautiful introduction to what we are capable of at Designs in Mind, as it was a really large-scale project. I remember being really taken aback by the skill and collaboration of everyone involved.”
As a member myself I’m personally looking forward to joining a slip casting workshop that Rosie is planning for us as it’s totally new to me
I’ve also recently attended a very relaxing and meditative focus group where Rosie had encouraged one of our Members, Nicki, to run a Slow Stich group each week.
Nicki has a wonderful skill in this method and recently created a beautiful hand stitched book and other beautiful embellished and stitched pieces pictured below.
