I really do matter

I’ve been at Designs in Mind as a member for 10 months. I keep expecting someone at some point to turn on me. This has been my experience most of my adult life. Just when I get settled and confident into a job, scheme or project, the rug would be pulled from under my feet- my anxiety attacks and related health issues will multiply.

Since attending Designs in Mind, I have slowly started to respect myself and found friendships with like-minded people. People here respect you if you’re having a good day or sad day, because we understand the true value in each other. I’ve no idea what the future holds, everyone lives with some level of anxiety. I’m not perfect, I’ve still got a long way to go, but I’ve come on so far.

Having the JOLT shop and being involved as one of the volunteers now, has been a real confidence boost, not just within me, but seeing my friend’s blossom here as well. The #SmashingStigma campaign has been wonderful to be part of especially seeing the responses from the public- it has been awesome.

I still struggle with anxiety but the future is now beginning to shine more lights, I am not just searching in the lonely darkness.

Remember tiny steps are more valuable than giant leaps. And that the tortoise beat the hare….

Progressing Nicely

On February the 11th 2018 we launched a crowd funding campaign. We want to start a conversation about mental health that is powerful. No more treading on eggshells. We are not invisible, We do not want to be hidden away. Our work in the studio and shop is #SmashingStigma every day, and now we are going to be a little noisier.
